In a shocking incident at a Hangzhou shopping mall, a man armed with a hammer boldly robbed a gold store in broad daylight in front of shocked onlookers. What made the situation even more bizarre was the man’s claim of having diplomatic immunity when apprehended by the police.
The daring robbery took place on March 9 at a Luk Fook Jewelry store in the mall. A video circulating online captured the moment when the man, dressed in black and white, smashed open display cabinets with a hammer and swiftly grabbed gold and silver jewelry, stuffing them into a black bag. Store employees and bystanders watched in disbelief as the drama unfolded.
As the man made his way out of the jewelry store, he began shouting erratically, drawing even more attention to the chaotic scene. He was later intercepted by police in the Shangcheng District of Hangzhou, where he continued to assert his supposed diplomatic immunity and non-Chinese identity in broken Mandarin.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Luo Mouliang from Yunnan, had flown to Hangzhou on the day of the robbery. Despite his claims, authorities have not disclosed his true identity or motive for the crime, stating that the investigation is ongoing.
The incident has caused a stir both locally and internationally, with the video garnering attention on overseas platforms. The Hangzhou Shangcheng District Public Security Bureau has assured that they are diligently pursuing the case and seeking further information.
